Weight gain.
So-
The twins are 4 weeks old tomorrow. Yesterday they were weighed at my weekly Breastfeeding clinic (love the support).
Cash is 2 oz above his birthweight an Patience is flat with hers.
We started talking about supplementing with my pumped milk, but I don’t think that will work. With feeding both twins every 2-3 hours the most formula I have pumped a day is 3 oz. This is partly because the twins like to hang out on the boobs for up to 45 minutes at a time and I will never have time to eat or use the restroom if I am constantly pumping in between. Not to mention leave the house-ever.
So the next step is formula- which they have both had and neither has a problem switching back and forth. I just feel terrible the next time they go poop because it makes then miserable!
We are going to weigh them next week and see what they gain before coming up with a game plan, but I feel bad waiting that long. I am also confused about why they aren gaining weight, since they are satisfied and full when they are done eating. I don’t make them wait a full 2 hours if they are hungry before, although I do try and make sure that they are both awake to eat before I get one started so they stay on a similar schedule.
How many people successfully use formula and breastfeed? Friends keep telling me that once I start supplementing with formula I will stop breastfeeding since its so much easier.
Hmmm… Oh and out of curiosity, does anyone ever mix formula and breast milk?
