Rock n Roll Lullabies.

electradaddy asked: Thank you for your comment to my post about left over embryos. It sounds like you may be in a similar situation - having frozen embryos. If so, from your experience, do you find this issue widely discussed (or silently ignored) amongst people confronting the issue? I read a lot of people pontificating on the matter - usually those who don't have any skin in the game, so to speak. It's easy for them to offer advice and lectures because it's not personal for them.

I don’t hear many people talk about what happens to their “left over” embryos.. or at least not openly anyway.

We are friends with one couple who had success with IVF 9 years ago, and they were pretty candid with us about their entire experience start to finish. That included the years of paying for the storage of embryos they knew they would never use, because it was too difficult to check any other box. They even said that they knew in their heads that they are “just cells” but they took a long time to be able to make a decision.

We haven’t decided if we will ever use any of our 3 frozen embryos, but we have both expressed how difficult it will be to make a decision about any unused embryos. They are just cells, but those cells are the result of heartbreak, hope, hard work, perseverance, and love.

Thats probably why people don’t like touch on the issue, talking about their embryos reminds them of how hard it was to get them?

You are completely correct about the most vocal people being the ones that have nothing invested though. They are also the people who I feel like slapping upside the head the most often as well.
