Horrible Parenting 101

Cash has fallen out of the bed twice now. The first time he was in the bed alone and when I heard him cry I found him wedged between the night stand and the bed not quite touching the floor. Poor poor guy.

Last night we went to bed before Chad, Patience was asleep in the crib and Cash was laying down with me. He was nursing on and off when I dozed and I woke up when I heard him cry. He was sitting on the floor next to Chad’s side of the bed with a big red mark on his forehead. Terrifying.

So here we are at one in the morning with a crying boy, a crying girl (the whole ordeal scared her), and a panicking daddy. I really never ever thought that I would be the calm one in these situations, but what do ya know! I am the glue that kinda sort of holds the crazy together.

After assessing the damage to Cash’s poor noggin we realized that he was alright, but rightfully scared and in need of comfort. We took the guest bedroom mattress off and put it on the floor of the unused baby bedroom. Chad stayed with him up there playing with him for a while until he was able to go to sleep. Cash won’t take a bottle though so I trekked upstairs to nurse him around 3:30 or so, which was after I had already woken up with Patience once (possibly twice, it is all kind of a blur), then nursed Patience again once around 6:30, slept a little bit, went back up stairs to nurse Cash, let him sleep a little bit more, then got up and handed the twins over to the nanny at 8:30. Then I accidentally passed the fuck out on my bed and became extremely late for work today.

I feel absolutely horrid about Cash falling off the bed, and I know that I should not have had him in it in the first place. The kid just will not sleep in a crib or pack and play and I don’t know what to do. We are going to work on getting our master bedroom bed on the floor asap, but we will need to rearrange and do some serious baby proofing before we can bring either baby in bed with us again. I called the sweet girl who night nannied Patience for a few nights and helped get her used to the crib and have her all set up to come for the next 3 nights and try try try to get Cash into his crib. I think that a lot of people would just let him CIO, but I just can’t do it. I let him cry for 5 minutes every now and then just to see if he will be able to calm himself down but he hits hysterical pretty damn quick.

When she came with Patience she was able to space out feedings for 5 hours and give her a bottle, but I am worried since Cash will not take one.

This sucks.

Other than this huge problem the rest of the weekend went pretty well. Chad and I had a spat on Saturday, which I want to write about but in a positive way so I am working on that, we took the kids to the pumpkin patch.. and had a lazyish day yesterday.

I have lots of photos to post tomorrow when I am done editing.
