Rock n Roll Lullabies.

kids, dogs, and rock n' roll

This is the final installment of my cruise updates:

Sea Day! This is the day when we were just at sea the whole time, and I had booked the twins in the nursery for the afternoon in advance. We got up in the morning and went to Cabanas for a casual buffet style breakfast. It was pretty good, even if it was the only buffet breakfast I have ever been to where I didn’t drink half my weight in mimosas.

Then we zipped back down to our room, got everyone in swimsuits, and right back to the same deck as the buffet to play in Nemo’s Reef! I have a million pictures of this but I will spare you the majority of them. Patience was a little nervous for about half a second before she was like “OMG MOM THIS IS THE COOLEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!” Cash was much much much more nervous and stuck to us like white on rice for about 45 minutes before he even splashed one splash, but he eventually had some fun!

We dropped the kids off in the nursery around 1:30, then Chad and I split up to do our own things. He watched Iron Man 3 3D in one of the onboard movie theaters, and I went to the adult only pool and got a neck/shoulder massage before laying out, drinking 2 pina coladas, and reading an old Odd Thomas book. Once the movie was done Chad found me and we went to the spa for a couples massage. The spa was beautiful and the rooms have beautiful views. The massages were pretty awful and definitely not worth the price, but that is just our opinion. Then we went and picked up the kids so we could all get ready for our last dinner on the boat.

We learned also, that you have to have all our luggage out by 10:30 pm the night before disembarkation in order to not have to take it off the boat and through customs yourselves. Holy crap hahaha it was like a clothes flurry in our room while we were just randomly chucking stuff into bags. Luckily about 3 people reminded us to not pack clothes/toiletries for the next day, or else that could have gotten awkward. Here is the other thing we learned: Breakfast is firmly at 8 am and you must be OFF the boat by 9 am. Haha so that was a little nuts for us since we are a slow starting family but it all worked out ok.

In summation: We had so much fun on this trip that after talking to my mom we decided to take another, longer, cruise at the end of September. My mom is going to go with us too! Yay! We are going to be really tight financially to make it work but it is totally worth doing it again now because once they are 2 years old we will have to buy 4 plane tickets instead of 2.

I am so excited!

So, here are a few snap shots from the first couple of days of our trip.

Did I tell you guys about the one time we only got 4 hours of sleep, then went to the airport to check in for our flight and they told us that our tickets had been exchanged for the next day and that I had been notified and supposedly “Oked” the change 9 days before? When in reality that never happened? And the airline didn’t care that the flight they decided that we were going to take the next day left at the same time we were supposed to be getting on our boat?

Yeah well, that happened.

After I started freaking the fuck out Chad took over the situation and basically pleaded with the lady at the desk to figure something out as missing our boat was just not an option. The manager was called and we were able to get switched out tickets for another airline (Delta rocks BTW) and we were able to get to our destination as planned, if not completely exhausted and shell shocked from traveling with the twins.

Moral of the story? Avoid US Airways, go with Delta.

Day 2 of the trip was much better! We got a full night’s sleep, waited in a huge line to check in at the boat, got on the boat, and were the very first people at the nursery to book extra time. I felt kind of guilty at first, until I got a look at the nursery… it was freaking awesome. After that we went to our room and just sort of hung out for a few hours (I drank my welcome bottle of bubbly while Chad rested and the twins had the best time ever with a pair of sheer curtains).

I was honestly surprised by the spaciousness of the room too! 299 sq ft seems pretty large when it is planned out right! We spent a lot of time in there and at no point did it seem cramped. Oh! And the twins slept SO WELL it was crazy!!!!

The morning of day 3 I woke up early (like always) and went outside on our verandah to watch as we cruised up to Nassau. It was beautiful, and if you look closely you can see the Atlantis resort in the photo. We could have gotten off the boat first thing in the AM and taken a day trip over to Atlantis, but we had decided to take the day easy and send the kids to the nursery for a few hours so that Chad could sleep in while I worked out and found an empty bar to enjoy a bloody mary and espresso, because that is what you are supposed to do after you elliptical 2.5 miles and use weights.

In the early afternoon we grabbed the twins and got off the boat to explore a little bit. I’m not going to lie, Nassau, the city part by where the boats dock, was pretty gross and dirty. However, we did find a super awesome Pirate museum that we went through before we got back onto the boat to get ready for our fancy dinner at Palo. Palo is the 2nd level fine dining restaurant on The Dream, and it was pretty damn fancy. Also it was pretty damn yummy too.

After dinner we picked up the kids and went back to the room to hang out while they slept, well they slept like babies. I am telling you guys… boats have magical powers to make babies sleep!

I am going to take a break here and upload so more pictures later.

I’m alive and well.

Sweet sweet Electradaddy wanted an update as soon as I felt up to it. I managed to squeeze 2 hours of sleep in this afternoon and I’m suffering on the elliptical at the moment so why not now?

So yesterday I had a “small quick gum graft” done at the dentist. I was told that the doctor would scrape a bit of tissue off the roof of my mouth and use an adhesive to attach it to my receding gums. Mayyyyybe a stitch or two. Well, yesterday I got there and the actual nurse was going over the procedure with me and I started having a panic attack. This sounded much closer to surgery than it had when the hygentist had described the ordeal with me. Then I saw a scalpel. Idk about you but to me “scalpel = surgery”.

It was terrible but in was sooooo grateful for my Bikram white knuckle grip and belly breathing. I managed to not continuously sob and shake like I did during the wisdom teeth incident of 2004. Although I did physically cry out when I felt an incision cut through my palate.

Anyway before they started they had me pop 2 cortisone pills to minimize what I am assuming would have been massive swelling and told me to take two more this morning. Turns out that those were stimulants and that is why I am on the elliptical machine, have only slept 2 hours in the past 37, and my house looking like a crack head cleaned it. I also managed to get out for a B12 shot today.

We drive to LA on Friday so that we don’t have to drive out at the butt crack of dawn on Saturday to not miss our flight! I am really excited. Tomorrow Cash is FINALLY seeing the urologist for his hernia (which actually looks a lot smaller) and I am seriously hoping that we don’t have to cancel everything for a procedure, although it would be more than worth if if he is in pain.

Hopefully I will have time to update on Cash tomorrow. I just finished my 25 min on the elliptical so I am going to clean up an relax now!
