Rock n Roll Lullabies.

kids, dogs, and rock n' roll

Ok so day 4 of our vacation (day 3 or the cruise) was by far the most awesome day!!! It was Castaway Cay day! Now I know that a lot of people want to experience new places the way the locals do.. you know like Leo in The Beach. NOT ME !

I want a beach chair, a BBQ feast lunch, and server walking around and bringing me mojitos in Disney souvenir cups. HEAVEN. Minty, bbq sauce, and rum flavored heaven.

awmommy said: this is going to be me.. east coast flight 5 hrs there 6 return.lap babies… eek. any tips would be appreciated!

Ok so we had pretty horrid plane experiences this trip and the first thing that we decided was: Any trip that involves air travel has to be at least 7 nights long to make the whole ordeal worth it.

It was honestly terrible. The long flight on the way there we were exhausted from only getting a few hours of sleep and the whole airport debacle, plus we were bickering over other things.. so I would recommend getting good rest before your trip and being on good terms with your travel partner!

When you fly with 2 lap babies you are not supposed to be allowed to sit in the same row because there will not be enough oxygen masks for everyone in the case of an emergency. On the way home we did sit together on both flights because one flight was full and no one wanted to switch seats to work it out, and the other flight was not full so we had an empty seat in a row of 3 so there were enough masks. From this I learned: Do not pack all the snacks/entertainment in one bag. Each adult should have snacks and entertainment for the baby that they are assigned. Download ALL the fisher price apps to your phone and make sure that your phone is FULLY charged.

We originally planned on not checking our carry on bags, this proved to be too ambitious. It was too hard to each push a stroller and roll around a bag and carry a bag each. Just pay the extra money to check all your luggage and save yourself the hassle.

I hope that this helps!

So, here are a few snap shots from the first couple of days of our trip.

Did I tell you guys about the one time we only got 4 hours of sleep, then went to the airport to check in for our flight and they told us that our tickets had been exchanged for the next day and that I had been notified and supposedly “Oked” the change 9 days before? When in reality that never happened? And the airline didn’t care that the flight they decided that we were going to take the next day left at the same time we were supposed to be getting on our boat?

Yeah well, that happened.

After I started freaking the fuck out Chad took over the situation and basically pleaded with the lady at the desk to figure something out as missing our boat was just not an option. The manager was called and we were able to get switched out tickets for another airline (Delta rocks BTW) and we were able to get to our destination as planned, if not completely exhausted and shell shocked from traveling with the twins.

Moral of the story? Avoid US Airways, go with Delta.

Day 2 of the trip was much better! We got a full night’s sleep, waited in a huge line to check in at the boat, got on the boat, and were the very first people at the nursery to book extra time. I felt kind of guilty at first, until I got a look at the nursery… it was freaking awesome. After that we went to our room and just sort of hung out for a few hours (I drank my welcome bottle of bubbly while Chad rested and the twins had the best time ever with a pair of sheer curtains).

I was honestly surprised by the spaciousness of the room too! 299 sq ft seems pretty large when it is planned out right! We spent a lot of time in there and at no point did it seem cramped. Oh! And the twins slept SO WELL it was crazy!!!!

The morning of day 3 I woke up early (like always) and went outside on our verandah to watch as we cruised up to Nassau. It was beautiful, and if you look closely you can see the Atlantis resort in the photo. We could have gotten off the boat first thing in the AM and taken a day trip over to Atlantis, but we had decided to take the day easy and send the kids to the nursery for a few hours so that Chad could sleep in while I worked out and found an empty bar to enjoy a bloody mary and espresso, because that is what you are supposed to do after you elliptical 2.5 miles and use weights.

In the early afternoon we grabbed the twins and got off the boat to explore a little bit. I’m not going to lie, Nassau, the city part by where the boats dock, was pretty gross and dirty. However, we did find a super awesome Pirate museum that we went through before we got back onto the boat to get ready for our fancy dinner at Palo. Palo is the 2nd level fine dining restaurant on The Dream, and it was pretty damn fancy. Also it was pretty damn yummy too.

After dinner we picked up the kids and went back to the room to hang out while they slept, well they slept like babies. I am telling you guys… boats have magical powers to make babies sleep!

I am going to take a break here and upload so more pictures later.

My poor girl is miserable and inconsolable. Frozen waffles were a no go.. Currently letting her munch on cold watermelon. Not often do I compare but there are some nights that only a parent of multiples can understand. #parenting #teethingithink #cashandpatience

My baby boy had an exam and ultrasound today. He has a very common hernia that will have to be surgically corrected, but everything else in the area is good. Doctor is pretty sure that he isn’t in pain so our cruise is still a go and we will schedule his surgery when we get back. #cashandpatience #parenting #doctorsoffice
